Back for 2007, defending champ Cody Crocker kick-started his championship in the best possible way at the Hella Rally International of Whangarei. Not only did he take maximum points for the event, he also won leg 1 and was 2nd overall, behind local young-gun Hayden Paddon.
Hiroshi Yanagisawa made amends for a disappointing Rally New Caldeonia, taking second behind Crocker, while Rifat Sungkar and Jean-Louis Leyraud battled all event for the final step on the podium.
